Ministeral Training Northampton – A study of helping skills for pastors, leaders and members. The course reviews basic counselling and pastoral care principles with the ‘resourcing pastoral care’ component offering a Christian perspective of pastoral care, including – human need, the caring relationship, listening skills, safe practice, community resources and reflective practice. After completing this course, you will be able to. Identify and use helping skills in a variety of pastoral care settings. Recognise and practice basic counselling skills through reflective learning. Review referral opportunities, community resources and confidentiality. Become more aware of how to intervene in the following situations: (a) Personal crisis (b) Marital crisis (c) Family crisis (d) grief & bereavement (e) burnout. – Identify pastoral care ethical guidelines and safeguarding.

June is a Systemic Family Therapist (Psychotherapist) with over 30 years experience in the field of mental health nursing. She is currently employed as a Systemic Family Therapist (Psychotherapist) in the Child Adolescent Mental Health Team (CAMHS) in Halifax, specialising in Eating Disorders. Her expertise and experience in counselling outside and inside the church put her in a good position to assist those with the passion and commitment to raise the standard of their Christian service in pastoral care through engagement with the resources of this course.
