Mums and Tots Rushden is a friendly, welcoming group for parents and carers with babies and young children. It is held during school term-time at St Mary’s Church, Rushden, in the church hall. The group is open to parents and carers with children from birth up to school age. It offers a relaxed, supportive environment where both children and adults can feel at home. Each session

Provides a wide range of toys for the children to enjoy, including a dedicated baby area for our youngest visitors. Children are encouraged to play freely, explore, and socialise. This helps them to build confidence and friendships with others of a similar age. Alongside free play, we often run a simple craft activity, such as painting, colouring, or gluing. There are also themed crafts linked to special occasions, including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Day, and Christmas. These activities give children the chance to be creative and try something new each week. Therefore, attending Mums and Tots Rushden sessions helps develop social and creative skills.

Mums and Tots is also a valuable time

For parents and carers. It offers a chance to get out of the house, enjoy a drink, meet others, and chat in a friendly and informal setting. It’s an opportunity to share the joys and challenges of caring for young children—or simply to talk about something different for a while. Of course, the sense of community at Mums and Tots Rushden is what encourages many families to return week after week.

Each session includes a drink and snack time

We usually finish with a short time of music and singing, or sometimes a story. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to stay for Beans Club, where baked beans on toast are provided for both children and carers. With activities and refreshments, Mums and Tots Rushden is a highlight for many local families. The group meets on Mondays from 10:00am to 12:30pm during term-time.
